Cloud Computing Solutions in the Retail Business Marketplace

Retail businesses are increasingly using cloud computing solutions, which can be used for many areas of a retail business and in the retail marketplace.

Cloud Computing Solutions in the Retail Business MarketplaceThe cloud is a great avenue for retail sales training. Retail Business Development has a cloud based training system. Campus has sales training materials that are instantly available through the cloud. It also has a management system that allows administration, documentation, tracking and reporting of the training done. Campus is available through the Assistant tablet app. The app can also suggest and then deliver instant training to the sales associate through its real-time performance tracking. It tracks the employee?s performance, and then suggests training to help them.

ERP systems gather data from all of a retail business?s departments: finance/accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management information then automate their activities with a software application. It?s designed to assist the flow of information between departments in a business and to manage the connections to others outside the business that need access. It also is something that is easily implemented in the cloud. RBD Connect is a cloud computing solution that is an ERP system. It delivers ERP to everyone who needs it from sales associates in the office or in the field, executives and management.

Most retail businesses use a customer relations management or CRM system. RBD Connect also includes a CRM component that helps a mobile workforce, or remote store owner. Your customer information and marketing information successes are at your fingertips, no matter where you are.

The best part is that all of these components: Campus, Assistant and Connect, all work together seamlessly. Why buy several different systems that probably won?t work together? You need reports that include employee information, training, ERP and CRM, so why make it even harder by using systems that don?t work together? RBD has the solutions that work to make your business work.

Drainage ditches can help clean up field runoff

Jan. 4, 2013 ? Vegetated drainage ditches can help capture pesticide and nutrient loads in field runoff, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) scientists report. These ditches -- as common in the country as the fields they drain -- give farmers a low-cost alternative for managing agricultural pollutants and protecting natural resources.

Agricultural Research Service (ARS) ecologist Matt Moore at the agency's National Sedimentation Laboratory in Oxford, Miss., and his colleagues conducted the research. ARS is USDA's chief intramural scientific research agency.

Until recently, the primary function of many edge-of-field ditches was to provide a passage for channeling excess water from crop fields. Many farmers controlled ditch vegetation with trimming or dredging to eliminate plant barriers that could impede the flow of runoff.

But in one of Moore's first studies, he evaluated the transport and capture of the herbicide atrazine and the insecticide lambda-cyhalothrin for 28 days in a 160-foot section of a vegetated agricultural drainage ditch in Mississippi. One hour after he started a simulated runoff event, 61 percent of the atrazine and 87 percent of the lambda-cyhalothrin had transferred from the water to the ditch vegetation. At the end of the ditch, runoff pesticide concentrations had decreased to levels that were generally non-toxic to downstream aquatic fauna.

Moore also conducted work in California and determined that vegetated drainage ditches helped mitigate pesticide runoff from tomato and alfalfa fields. As a result, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) state office in California included vegetated agricultural drainage in their Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). This meant farmers who installed the ditches could be reimbursed for up to 50 percent of the cost. Moore's research also contributed to the decision by NRCS managers in Mississippi to include vegetated agricultural drainage ditches in the state's EQIP.

The research was published in Ecological Engineering, Environmental Pollution, Journal of Environmental Quality, and elsewhere.

Denver personal injury lawyer Shaun Kaufman: Historical Legal ...

Mistaken Views on the Internet

Every time a lawsuit is filed against the Aurora Century 16 Theater there are negative comments about that lawsuit posted?around the Internet. A lot of the people making negative comments mistakenly argue that the lawsuits are based in some ?brand new? or novel?theory of law that was brought here from California in the last six months.?This is far from the truth.

An Old and Simple Theory Behind the Lawsuits

Most of the lawsuits that have been filed in this matter use a very old and?simple theory: When a business owner invites?you in to do business with them, and you do business with them, then the business owner has a duty to?the customers to make the business premises safe from known, possible harms.

This rule?has been?on the books?in Colorado (and the United States) for nearly 50 years.

Additionally, if someone was hurt on the business owner?s premises, even by the act of a third party, then the business owner has a duty to protect the customer in the future from similar harm from third parties.?These third parties can be purse snatchers, armed robbers, and auto thieves. The lawsuits filed on behalf of the people at the Aurora Century 16 Theatre argue that it is located in a neighborhood that has a history of robbery, purse snatching, fights gang violence, and other scary?acts. ?They?re right.

1987 Case: Taco Bell v Lannon

In?Taco Bell v. Lannon, a Colorado case decided in 1987,?our Colorado appeals?court said that when considering whether or not it is reasonable to sue a business (like the movie theater) we need to ask only?if?the business owner knew or should have known about the lack of security on the premises. If they knew, or should have known, then they have a duty to protect the patron. Another way of saying this is when?someone operates a business in a neighborhood where there is a lot of crime, then the businessperson assumes responsibility for the safety of those who come to that ?sketchy??neighborhood to do business with him or her.

How Business Owners Safeguard Patrons

Taking good care of customers includes applying such safeguards as:

  • Alarm systems
  • Good lighting in?parking lots
  • Video cameras
  • Safe evacuation policies.

Aurora Century 16 Theatre: A Violent Crime Neighborhood

It is no surprise?to anyone, such as myself, who visited the area around Century 16 Theatre in the past several decades that it is a region where there is a lot of violent crime.

The business owner (theater) knew that. Yet, they did little or nothing to prevent that, and that inaction led to a big problem in July 2012.?Taking good care of?customers isn?t some fancy idea?that just arrived from California. Taking care of customers is good business, and the right thing to do.

GameStick starts tiny console Kickstarter | GamesRadar

GameStick isn't the first Android-powered low-cost games console to hit Kickstarter. It isn't the first to promise an open environment for developers and competitors alike with freely available manufacturing specs and development kits. It may be the first one to cram the system into a flash-drive-sized HDMI stick which can fit in its own controller.

TV gaming company PlayJam, which previously developed a Smart TV gaming network, says it's in the last stretch but needs at least $100,000 from backers to push the tiny console into full production. Working prototypes for GameStick and its white Jony Ives-ian controller are already in use, and PlayJam hopes to start distributing the consoles in April.

PlayJam is prepared to receive myriad comparisons to Ouya (like, for instance, the first paragraph of this article) but the company believes its experience in the TV games sector and portability set it apart.

"Ouya ran a fantastic campaign but it would be premature to assume that they will own the market with their offering," PlayJam CEO Jasper Smith told GamesIndustry International.

"Competition is good and we're the proof. In the short time that Android games consoles have started to come through, we have been able to push the manufacturing boundaries further than before to create a powerful yet more affordable solution at a fraction of the size, capable of supporting hundreds if not thousands of games."

The Kickstarter campaign will run until February 1, and if you want a GameStick of your own you'll need to pledge at least $79.

Someone in New York City voted for Chael Sonnen for president

Chael Sonnen, the UFC fighter who is known as much for his trash talk as his fighting skills, has a passionate fanbase. They pay to watch him on pay-per-views, stand in line for hours for autographs and pictures, and hang on his every word. One fan even thought enough of Sonnen that he or she cast a ballot for him in the 2012 presidential election.

New York City's official election results were posted today. According to the New York Times, one vote was tallied for Sonnen. He received the same amount of votes as Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York City.

Though the voter probably knew his or her vote wouldn't result in a Sonnen presidency, Sonnen has had political ambitions in the past. In 2010, he ran for a Senate seat in his home state of Oregon, but withdrew when a legal issue arose. The legal issue turned out to be money laundering in connection with his job as a realtor. Sonnen plead guilty in 2011.

Now, Sonnen's sights are on UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The two will coach against each other on the upcoming season of "The Ultimate Fighter," and face off in April.
