Jackson County Couple Pleads Guilty to Animal Cruelty

A Jackson County couple pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty after authorities took more than 200 animals from their home. RIPLEY?--?A Jackson County couple pleaded guilty to two charges of animal cruelty last week after authorities seized more than 200 animals in May from the couple's home in Lockhart Fork.

Seth Maher, 72, and his wife, Kimberly Maher, 43, both pleaded guilty in Jackson County Magistrate Court.

Both will be back in court for a restitution hearing June 22. Each received a year of probation, and remaining counts of animal cruelty were dismissed.

Authorities said the animals had no food and were living in horrible conditions.
