If you?re planning on buying a shirt or a top in Hong Kong, realize that the words might not even make sense. I?ve been looking forward to shopping and buying a lot of clothes in Hong Kong since it?s much cheaper than Canada but the words on some tops make no sense whatsoever. If you?re planning on coming over during the summer session like I have, all the shops have summer discounts. It tends to have a good deal and quality of clothing can be much better. (Depends on where you go). The best bet to get cheap work clothes is at G2000 which is one of the best top quality clothes for blouses, suits, dresses, etc. The best place to get casual clothes is in malls in Hong Kong. However, if you want the experience to bargain, you can always go to street markets in the deadly heat. I suggest going around 3-4 pm where it?s still bright out but it?s less hot. I would never go during the night as it seems to be a bit more sketchy? and if you?re planning on going to the Ladies Market, beware that there have been incidents with acid being thrown onto people and A LOT OF PICKPOCKETERS!
On my last post, I promised that I will write as much as I can and as detailed as well. Sadly, I?m on a tight schedule. It?s currently the afternoon and a lot of people are in the coffee shop where it is the ONLY place I have access to the internet :X (and I?m meeting up with a friend, Christy, whom I haven?t seen for approximately 11 years?.). So I?ll try my best now? and perhaps update in a few hours time?. So for now, this will be a short update.
So a few days ago, I went to Tsim Sha Tsui to meet up with Chloe at 6:30 pm to go to my appointment. Now, you may wonder as to what sort of appointment I?m heading off too. Don?t worry! It?s not to a doctor?s or anything that important. I was heading to a body piercer to get my cartilage piercing done. You see, I was trying to get my cartilage done two years ago when I first came to Hong Kong by myself. Sadly, Chloe wasn?t there with me and the owner of the shop is family friends with her? so =X But now, here I am, sitting in front of an Apple computer, telling you I finally got it done. The difference between here and Canada is that they actually numbed down my ear before piercing it. This place is also legitimate since the owner got her piercing license in the UK and has been doing it for more than 13 years. AND IT DIDN?T HURT AT ALL! Which is obviously a bonus. Enough about me though? OFF TO THE NEXT PLACE~!
So other than shopping and the food, there?s also the drinks and desserts that are well known in Hong Kong. Lam kwai fong is known to be a street where party people can hang out and have fun and is located in Central District. There are clubs and?a lot?of pubs to drink and meet new people. Just a few nights ago, I went with a couple of friends and let?s just say, you can dress yourself in casual or formal clothes. (Whichever you prefer.) Walking past some tables, I was able to smell people smoking marijuana?. not that I?m a drug dealer or smoker, but I remember the scent since I went to Amsterdam in summer 2008 [to those who don't know, this drug is legal over there] . It?s a rather disgusting scent and you would never forget it. The waiters and waitresses are rather nice and some places don?t check id. Prices are quite reasonable and I paid 68 hong kong dollars for a pina colada which is approximately 9 dollars canadian? XD
Desserts on the other hand can differ when you?re in Hong Kong depending on your taste buds. I wouldn?t consider egg tarts to be dessert but it could be since it?is sweet. There?s also red bean desserts and green bean.. and black sesame. Anyways, I think I should start heading towards the MTR. I?ll let you know all about desserts and shopping experiences by the middle of next week.
Toodles and stay safe
