Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test for MCA will have questions from topics such as Quantitative ability, Logical reasoning, verbal ability and computer awareness. There will be a total of 100 objective type questions which have to be answered in 2 hours. It is advisable to refer text books prescribed for BCA and B.Sc computer science to clear the test.
Eligibility Criterion
Candidates who have passed graduation with 50 % marks in any of the subjects from a recognized University are eligible to apply for TANCET (MCA). Candidates should have studied Mathematics as a subject in their higher secondary. Reserved category candidates can avail relaxation of 5 % marks as per the norms of Government of India. Candidates, who have completed graduation through lateral entry except engineering degree, are not eligible to apply for this exam. There is no age limit for this exam.
Exam Pattern of TANCET (MCA)
The entrance test will have questions to assess candidates? knowledge in Quantitative ability, Logical reasoning, verbal ability and computer awareness. Apart from this, candidates can expect questions related to science subjects. Questions will be in multiple choice objective type formats. There will be a total of 100 questions. Each question carries one mark. There will be negative marking of .25 for every wrong answer. The maximum time allotted for the exam is 2 hours.
Syllabus for TANCET (MCA)
Quantitative Ability
Candidates can expect questions from school level Mathematics to higher secondary level. Questions will be asked from topics such as geometry, ratios, trigonometry, statistics, data interpretation, algebra and so on.
Computer Awareness
This section will contain questions from computer basics and programming languages. Candidates are advised to score well in this section, as this part is crucial for MCA admission.
Reasoning Ability
Questions will be asked from the areas such as puzzles, number series, coding inequalities and non verbal reasoning.
Verbal Ability
Candidates can expect questions based on English Language, especially on basic grammar, word analogy and reading comprehension.
