Review: Mint.com Personal Finance | App Aficionado

Name: Mint.com Personal Financer
What it?s good for: Easily checking your total cash & credit
It?s must-have feature: It?s a read-only website app
It?s competition: PageOnce, MoneyWise, etc.
My rating on a 10-point scale: 7
Platform I used to test it on: Motorolla Droid

Mint.com
Mint.com is a website that brings all your financial accounts together online to easily view and categorize so as to help you budget your finances better. This includes checking, credit cards, savings, loans, investments, and others accounts from most financial institutions. Their website has gotten a bit more cluttered since they added Goals and Portfolio options, but I am a huge fan of the Alerts they can send you (like if you?re reaching your spending limit for the month) and the Trends section where they show bar graphs or pie charts of how much you?re spending on what/where and comparing your spending habits over time.

If you?ve never heard of Mint.com, check out their website?here. They?ve got over 5 million users and their security is verified by TRUSTe,?VeriSign and Hackersafe, and supported by RSA Security. Mint.com is a read-only website and does not sell your individual information. They get their money by suggesting financial products/advice, which I find doesn?t disrupt my Mint.com experience.

The Mint.com App
This app is for those who love and trust Mint.com and want a quick look at their?finances. It is very simple and easy to use if you want to see a summary of your cash vs. credit, how you?re doing on your budgets, and all transactions from your accounts. For other Mint.com options, you?ll have to go to a computer and access them through their website.

I hope those who download this app choose to have it password protected. The Mint.com widget option just seems too precarious.

Pssst? hey Mint.com devs?. the MoneyWise app has graphs in it. Please come out with an update to include graphs in the app! Then I?ll give you 9 stars.
